Steve and Dawn

Steve and Dawn have been married for over 23 years and have walked through so much life together! I love my job because I get to capture the day when a marriage begins, but it was so inspiring and encouraging to capture this incredible couple in this season of life at the place where Ryan and I celebrated our wedding day in Richmond! I dream of Ryan and I being like Dawn and Steve in 20 years. They are incredible and I feel so honored to have gotten to meet and photograph them! Truly they are some of the kindest most joyful people I have ever met.

I normally take a couples story and put it in my own words when I share about them on the blog…but Dawn’s words were so inspiring to me, I just have to share them because I teared up reading them! Dawn contacted me months ago and her joy and excitement about having their photos taken was contagious….

“I wanted my 3 boys to see pictures of us and know that we still love each after this many years later.  Our hearts still skip a beat when we see each other.  My favorite time of day is when Steve walks in the door from work, and all the boys run to say hi to him, he pushes his way through them to get to me…usually I am cooking in the kitchen he comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my neck and tells me how glad he is to be home.  Then he is off to the back yard to throw a football or kick or soccer ball with the boys.  And I watch them out the window and think “what a wonderful life!”  I am the lucky one!  We don’t just want to be married for a long time, we want to be happily married for a long time. our motto:  If it is important to one person, then it is important to both of us.

Marriage just gets better!  We had no idea the how much the depth of our love would grow. We are more than best friends, Steve knows all my thoughts. Nothing seems complete until we tell each other.  We still call each other from work several times a day.  Steve is the best at sending sweet texts and of support and encouragement. We both have Fridays off from work and our boys are at school.  It is our favorite day of the week. Steve is the best–I bring him ideas from Pinterest and he makes them happen! That is what I love about him!   He supports all of my crazy dreams and to-do list.  We both look forward to growing old together.  I would follow Steve to the ends of the earth, just to be with him.  I can’t wait to hang a big picture of us, so our boys have an example of the kind of husband to be.  I would say we love each other more then the day we got married, but maybe it just grows into a deeper kind of love.”

Dawn and Steve, thank you so much for sharing your story and for allowing me to capture you in this season of your lives! I can’t even begin to tell you how honored I am to have taken these and I hope you enjoy my favorites!

Oh my goodness, I love this. Such a sweet story. And the ring pic at the end with the leaves is to-die-for.
