Teddy and Emma | Washington DC Wedding

There’s something extra special about shooting a military wedding…I think a groom in uniform makes for some really classically beautiful portraits but aside from that, I love the sense of family that those who are a part of the military have with one another. My grandfather went to the naval academy and served in the military so I always get a sense of pride when I reflect on the sacrifices he made for our country. And it was so beautiful and joyous to see Emma taking on that sense of pride on her wedding day as she promised to love and cherish Teddy forever and embrace military life. At the end of their day we stopped at the Iwo Jima Marine Corps memorial so that they could have a formal portrait with it in their wedding day attire. As we were walking up to it, a woman stopped Teddy and Emma and thanked them for their service and then prayed over them. I held back tears as I watched and was reminded how blessed I am to live in this country and how thankful I am to those who serve to protect it. Teddy and Emma, it was such a huge joy for me to be a part of your special day!

From the gorgeous historical hotel, to the cathedral that they chose to get married in, to Emma’s gorgeous dress and lace bolero — their wedding was a dream. It was truly a timeless and elegant celebration. They had a morning mass at 10 am at the Cathedral of St. Matthews , which was followed by a reception a The Willard Intercontinental Hotel. We ended the day with a little adventure around DC to take portraits at some of the memorials. Emma and Teddy, it was such an honor to be a part of your wedding day and I hope you enjoy my favorites from the day! *A big thanks to my friend, Ali of Alisandra Photography, for shooting with me!

Emma, you are breathtaking! Hair and Makeup by the amazing Ali Wear.

It was really special to get to do their portraits at the end of the day when we weren’t rushed at all to get to the reception! We started at the Willard with the bridal party and then slowly made our way around DC.

Gorgeous bridal party!

Emma’s wedding dress choice was perfection…I loved the pockets and the lace bolero she wore! Amazing!

It was a really bright day, but this is an iconic picture with the Capital building in the background for couples getting married at the Willard so we had to take it! Love!

Congratulations again you two and thank you so much for choosing me to be a part of your special day!

Annamarie! This is by far one of my favorite weddings that you have shot. It’s not just due to the stunning bride and all of the beautiful details of her wedding, but also the way that you captured it through your lens. It is so awesome to watch you grow as a photographer and continue to bless others with the gifts our Heavenly Father has given you.

    Love you and miss you!

What was the name of the church? Was it a noon-ish reception? How did everyone look so fresh for after reception photos?

    Thanks.
